Yahva Bentota BENTOTA

Starting from $450
10 guests
4 rooms
4 bathrooms

Yahva is a Sanskrit word meaning "ever flowing water", and the name earns its meaning. This four-bedroom villa sits on the tranquil shores of Dedduwa Lake in Bentota, designed by award-winning Sri Lankan architect Thilina Vithanage to settle into the wetland landscape rather than sit above it. On a clear morning, Geoffrey Bawa's Lunuganga estate is visible across the water. Most guests consider this a reasonable way to begin a day.

Frequently asked questions

Check our FAQ for details on villa

What does the name Yahva mean?
Yahva is derived from the Sanskrit for "ever flowing water" - a name chosen to reflect the villa's position on Dedduwa Lake and its design philosophy of moving with the natural landscape rather than imposing on it.
Can you see Lunuganga from the villa?
Yes. Geoffrey Bawa's Lunuganga estate is 1.8 kilometres across Dedduwa Lake and visible from the villa's terrace and pool deck on clear mornings. It is also reachable in under five minutes by car or by boat across the lake.
Who designed Yahva Bentota?
The villa was conceived by award-winning Sri Lankan architect Thilina Vithanage, whose design integrates the structure with the Dedduwa wetland landscape. The interior detailing - hand-painted ceilings, Moroccan mosaic bathroom tiles, arched timber doorways and bespoke artwork - reflects a deep engagement with Sri Lankan craft traditions.
How many guests can Yahva Bentota accommodate?
The villa sleeps up to 10 guests across four en-suite bedrooms; the Contemporary Room, the Rustic Room, the Renaissance Room and the Serendib Room. All four face the lake and all include king beds, air conditioning and private terraces or balconies.
Is kayaking included?
Yes. Kayaks are available complimentary for guests and launch directly from the villa's waterfront. Dedduwa Lake has no motorised vessels, making it an ideal environment for kayaking at any time of day.
How far is Yahva Bentota from Galle and Colombo?
Galle Fort is approximately one hour by car via the Southern Expressway. Colombo is approximately ninety minutes. The villa is well-positioned as a base for day trips in either direction, or as a midpoint stay on a longer Sri Lanka itinerary.
