What is Merak Digana?
Merak Digana is a five-bedroom luxury villa set within the Victoria Golf and Country Resort in Digana, an hour east of Kandy in Sri Lanka's Central Highlands. Positioned on an elevated hillside overlooking Victoria Reservoir and the surrounding mountain ranges, the villa has a private infinity pool on a timber deck, a covered pergola, a wide upper-floor balcony with panoramic views, a bar, formal dining, and a full team of staff. It accommodates up to 12 adults across five ensuite bedrooms, each with an antique four-poster bed and its own distinct character.
What room types are available?
Merak Digana has five ensuite bedrooms, each named after a golf term. Tee One is a triple room with Victoria Reservoir views and warm interior tones. Tee Two is a double room with reservoir views and access to the shared balcony. Tee Three is a triple room with garden views. Tee Four is a double room with a classic palette. Tee Five is a double room with green accent walls. All five are air-conditioned with antique four-poster beds and ensuite bathrooms with glass-block walls and twin basins.
Is there a chef?
Yes. An in-house chef is included and prepares à la carte and customised menus throughout the stay. Sri Lankan rice and curry, hoppers made from scratch, and international dishes are all available. For entire villa bookings, guests may also bring their own supplies and have the chef prepare their preferred menu at no additional charge. Grocery costs are charged separately when sourced by the villa team.
Can I arrive by seaplane?
Yes. The Victoria Reservoir Seaplane Base is 2 kilometres from the villa, approximately 5 minutes by road. Cinnamon Air operates a scheduled seaplane service from Colombo that takes approximately 35 minutes by air, landing on the still surface of the reservoir below the villa. The villa team arranges ground transfers from the base on request. It is one of the more memorable arrival experiences available in Sri Lanka.
How far is Merak Digana from Digana Golf Club?
Digana Golf Club, operated by the John Keells Group within the Victoria Golf and Country Resort, is walking distance from the villa gate, approximately 5 minutes on foot. The course is a Par 73, 6,933-yard championship 18-hole layout ranked among the finest courses in Sri Lanka. Golf arrangements can be made through the villa team.
What is the view like from the villa?
The view is the property's defining feature. The villa sits on an elevated position within Coconut Hill above Victoria Reservoir, one of the largest reservoirs in Sri Lanka. From the infinity pool deck, the shared balcony, and the upper-floor bedrooms, the reservoir and the surrounding mountain ranges fill the entire horizon. At dawn the mist sits in the valleys; at dusk the water turns gold. Multiple guest reviews cite the view as the reason they returned.
Is Merak Digana family-friendly?
Yes. Children of all ages are welcome and the villa's generous proportions, multiple rooms, and outdoor spaces make it well suited to family groups. The chef adapts menus for children on request. Maximum occupancy is 12 adults, with additional arrangements possible by prior agreement with the villa team.
