Miss Ceylon Unawatuna UNAWATUNA

Starting from $4200
24 guests
12 rooms
12 bathrooms

Somewhere on Heenatigala Road, behind the coconut palms and the rice paddies ten minutes inland from Unawatuna beach, there is a factory that was abandoned and then reimagined as one of the most architecturally ambitious boutique hotels on Sri Lanka's south coast. Miss Ceylon is not a villa or a resort. It is a singular thing: a twelve-room loft hotel built inside an industrial structure, where the original bones of the building, the volumes, the exposed materials, the cathedral-height ceilings, have been allowed to remain and worked into the design rather than plastered over.

Frequently asked questions

Check our FAQ for details on villa

What is the difference between a King Loft and a Duplex Family Loft?
The King Loft is a single-level room sleeping two adults and one child, with a Crittall-framed jungle or garden view, handmade teak furniture, a drinks cabinet, and a 1500-litre freestanding bathtub. The Duplex Family Loft is a two-level space with a mezzanine sleeping area, a ground-floor lounge, a kitchenette, a private outdoor veranda, and an outdoor rainforest shower. The Duplex is suited to families or guests who want the full private-living-space experience; the King Loft is the architectural showpiece for couples.
What is the Loft Spa programme?
Miss Ceylon offers in-room spa treatments delivered directly to your loft. The programme includes oil massages, floral bath treatments, candle and oil rituals, and couples massage. Treatments are bookable through reception and should be arranged in advance. Guest reviews consistently describe the couple's massage at Miss Ceylon as the best they experienced anywhere in Sri Lanka.
Is the property suitable for children?
Yes. The Duplex Family Lofts are specifically designed for families, with a mezzanine sleeping level, kitchenette and private outdoor space. Children of all ages are welcome, and the restaurant accommodates dietary preferences and children's requests. The grounds, the peacocks and the rice paddy setting tend to be popular with younger guests in particular.
How far is Miss Ceylon from the beach?
Approximately ten minutes by tuk-tuk to Unawatuna Beach, and fifteen minutes to the quieter Dalawella reef lagoon. The property is deliberately set inland, in the rice paddy fringe rather than on the coastal strip. This is the trade guests make in exchange for the architectural setting, the firefly evenings over the rice fields, the peacocks and the genuine quiet that the coastal properties cannot offer.
What is the dining experience like at Miss Ceylon?
The restaurant serves Sri Lankan fusion and wellness-forward dishes. A communal table is laid for evenings when guests want to socialise; private candlelit tables are set up on request for couples. Breakfast is complimentary and described consistently in reviews as generous, high quality and accompanied by good coffee. The kitchen accommodates vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free requirements.
