Balapitiya sits on Sri Lanka's southwestern coast between the Madu Ganga river and the Indian Ocean, and Origin sits between the two of them. The villa is a colonial-era property with terracotta roofing, arched windows, and the kind of architectural character that modern builds spend a great deal of money trying to imitate. The beach is a three-minute walk. The Madu Ganga, with its 64 islands and Ramsar-listed mangrove ecosystem, is a ten-minute drive. Colombo is two hours north via the Southern Expressway.

The beach is a three-minute walk from the villa. The coastline at Balapitiya is long, uncrowded, and backed by coconut palms.
How many guests can Origin Balapitiya accommodate?
The villa sleeps up to 8 guests across four bedrooms, all ensuite and air-conditioned.
Is an in-house chef included in the rate?
Yes. The villa comes with a dedicated chef who prepares Sri Lankan and international meals daily, including breakfast. Grocery costs are covered separately by guests.
How far is Origin Balapitiya from Colombo airport?
Approximately two hours by car via the Southern Expressway. Airport transfers can be arranged in advance by the villa team.
What is the pool like?
The pool is a saltwater pool set in the centre of the villa's tropical garden, flanked by sun loungers and shaded by mature planting. No chlorine, no chemical smell.
What is there to do near Balapitiya?
The Madu Ganga river safari is a ten-minute drive and one of Sri Lanka's most rewarding half-day experiences. Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery is 15 minutes away. Hikkaduwa's surf and coral reef are 20 minutes south. Galle Fort is an easy 45-minute day trip.
Is Origin Balapitiya suitable for families?
Very much so. The ground-floor bedrooms open directly onto the garden, the pool is centrally located and visible from the living areas, and the villa staff can help arrange family-friendly excursions including boat safaris and turtle hatchery visits.
