Sol House Mirissa sits in a small private bay on the Kamburugamuwa coast, two minutes off the main Mirissa road and a world away from it. The villa occupies three buildings arranged around a palm-dotted lawn that leads to a garden gate and then to the beach. The gate is the only thing between the property and the Indian Ocean, and on most days, that beach is entirely yours.

Frequently asked questions
Check our FAQ for details on villa
How many guests does Sol House Mirissa accommodate?
Fourteen guests across six bedrooms. The villa is divided between two main pavilions: the central pavilion houses three bedrooms and a living area, while the neighbouring pavilion houses three further bedrooms, a second living and dining space, a dedicated bar and a media room. All six bedrooms are finished in white and cream with high ceilings, ocean views and private ensuite bathrooms. The master bedroom on the upper floor of the central pavilion has an outdoor freestanding bathtub on a private ocean-view terrace.
Is the beach at Sol House Mirissa swimmable?
The private bay has strong currents and is not suitable for open swimming. The villa has two private pools and a natural rock pool at the water's edge for safe swimming. Mirissa Beach, which is suitable for swimming and surfing, is ten minutes by tuk-tuk. The villa team can arrange transfers.
What is the food experience like?
The villa has a full staff team of six, including in-house chef Indika, who is consistently named in guest reviews as a standout reason to stay. Sri Lankan feasts, fresh seafood platters and international menus are all available. Dietary requirements and special requests are accommodated with advance notice. Please note the villa does not hold a liquor licence; guests are welcome to bring their own beverages.
Is Sol House Mirissa suitable for large groups and families?
Yes. The six-bedroom layout across two separate pavilions gives large groups genuine space and privacy. Each pavilion has its own living areas, meaning two family groups can co-exist comfortably with shared use of the pools, dining pavilion, bar and garden. The villa team is experienced with large family and group bookings. Children are welcome; parents are advised to supervise children near the pools and beach gate at all times.
What makes Sol House Mirissa different from other villas in the area?
Several things are genuinely distinctive. The private bay setting at Kamburugamuwa is quieter than the main Mirissa beach strip, with a sense of seclusion that larger beachfront properties closer to town cannot offer. The two-pavilion layout with a dedicated bar, media room and open-air dining pavilion gives the property the range of a boutique resort within the privacy of an exclusive-use villa. The natural rock pool is unusual: a formed tidal pool at the water's edge that provides safe, calm swimming directly on the beach. And the staff, specifically the consistent individual praise for Kalum, Shazan, Lakshitha and chef Indika across multiple review platforms, represents a level of team quality that is difficult to replicate and effectively impossible to fake.
