Sri Sharavi Beach Villas and Spa is a four-villa beachfront resort on the southern coast of Sri Lanka, set directly above the Indian Ocean in Mirissa with a 43-metre saltwater infinity pool that holds the distinction of being the largest on Sri Lanka's south coast. The property is built around a sunken tropical garden and courtyard with water features and bougainvillea, and the four two-storey villas arranged around it each face the ocean and the pool simultaneously, so the view is present from every common space and from most of the bedrooms. The architecture is contemporary with deliberate restraint: polished cement floors, high ceilings with exposed beams, large windows positioned for the light rather than the view, and a colour palette in each villa drawn from Sri Lanka's precious gemstones, which give the four buildings their names.

What is Sri Sharavi Beach Villas Mirissa?
Sri Sharavi Beach Villas and Spa is a four-villa beachfront resort on Sri Lanka's southern coast in Mirissa, built around a 43-metre saltwater infinity pool that is the largest on the south coast. Four two-storey villas named after gemstones: Topaz, Aquamarine, Amethyst, and Peridot - each contain three ensuite bedrooms, a private pantry, indoor and outdoor living and dining spaces, and a dedicated villa butler. Two additional Standard Rooms in the spa building bring the total to 14 rooms. Individual rooms, whole villas, or the entire resort can be booked.
What are the room types?
Each villa has three room configurations. The Ocean Signature Suite at 75 square metres is the largest, with extended views of the Indian Ocean from a private terrace and a king bed. The Superior Deluxe Suite at 55 square metres has a king and a single bed, a sitting area, and a glass wall looking onto the bougainvillea garden. The Palm Double Room at 35 square metres has a private enclosed terrace and a large bathroom. Two Standard Rooms of 25 square metres in the spa building have balconies overlooking the courtyard and are the most compact option on the property.
Can I swim in the ocean?
The coral reef immediately in front of the resort means the ocean directly at the property is not suitable for swimming. The 43-metre saltwater infinity pool is the primary swimming option and is maintained at a comfortable temperature year-round. A sheltered bay a two-minute walk along the shore is safe for swimming from November to April when the seas are calm. Mirissa Beach, three kilometres away, has good swimming conditions during the season and a range of beach options.
What is the whale watching like from Mirissa?
Mirissa is one of the most reliable whale watching destinations in Asia, and the harbour is 3 kilometres from the property. Blue whales, sperm whales, and spinner dolphins are all regularly sighted on the morning boats that depart between November and April. Blue whale sightings in particular are frequent enough that most boats see them on most days during peak season. The villa team can arrange bookings through reputable operators. It is one of the most consistent wildlife experiences available anywhere in Sri Lanka.
Is the resort suitable for families?
Yes. Sri Sharavi is explicitly family-friendly and well-suited to families with older children. The villa configuration: three bedrooms, a shared living area, a pantry, and outdoor dining space per villa - works naturally for family groups without requiring everyone to be in the same room. The Peridot villa is wheelchair accessible with a sloped entrance and barrier-free interiors. The pool is safe for children and the beach immediately in front is calm enough for supervised paddling. Children under 13 are not charged as adults.
How sustainable is the resort?
Sri Sharavi operates on solar power throughout the property and maintains a comprehensive sustainability programme covering energy, water, and waste management. The resort is certified by Sri Lanka Tourism and holds a Level 1 sustainability classification. Guests are asked to be mindful of energy and water use during their stay. The GPS-guided bicycle tours, which are complimentary, are designed to connect guests with the surrounding landscape and village life in a way that generates a return for the local community.
