Boho House takes its name from its roof. Timber and iluk, the local spear grass that has been used for thatching on the south coast of Sri Lanka for centuries, hold the entire structure together in a way that makes the interior feel simultaneously tropical and settled, ancient and fresh. The roof is the reason the house looks the way it does, and the reason it feels the way it does: warm, shaded, with the particular quiet that a thatched ceiling creates.

How many guests does Boho House accommodate?
Up to ten adults across three rooms. The two master bedrooms each accommodate two adults, with the option to add a third person if the third is a child under thirteen. The family room accommodates four adults. All three rooms are fully air-conditioned with private ensuite bathrooms and outdoor pebble-wall showers. The entire villa is booked on an exclusive-use basis; individual rooms are not available separately.
What is the food experience like at Boho House?
The chef prepares bespoke homemade meals across a curated menu that includes Sri Lankan curries, fresh seafood, whole lobster, carefully plated dishes and a traditional tea ceremony. The food is consistently the most mentioned highlight in guest reviews. Candle-lit outdoor dinners on the pool deck and terrace are available on request and are a signature experience at the villa.
What excursions can be arranged through the villa?
The villa arranges whale watching from Mirissa harbour (November to April), surf trips to Mirissa and Weligama, turtle snorkelling at Thalaramba beach, traditional fishing excursions, and lagoon boat rides. All excursions are curated; the villa team will advise on timing and conditions depending on the season and weather.
Is Boho House suitable for families with children?
Yes. The three-room layout accommodates mixed family groups. Each master bedroom can be configured to sleep a third person if the third is a child under thirteen. The villa team is experienced with family groups. Parents and guardians are advised to supervise children at all times near the pool and the coast.
How close is the villa to Mirissa beach?
Boho House is in Thalaramba, five minutes by tuk-tuk from Mirissa Beach. The villa is not directly on Mirissa Beach but is fifty metres from the Indian Ocean on the Thalaramba coastline, which has its own beach and excellent turtle snorkelling. The whale watching harbour is ten minutes by tuk-tuk. Coconut Tree Hill and Parrot Rock are accessible in a similar time.
