Newly restored and set on Eliot Road in the heart of Galle, it is a three-suite private villa where the architecture does a great deal of the work - grand corridors with patterned vintage tiles, arched doorways framing tropical garden views, a Meda Midula courtyard at its centre, soaring ceilings hung with brass chandeliers and walls lined with antique maps, blue and white porcelain and original art. The house has been put back together with the kind of attention to detail that results in a library study you actually want to sit in and a croquet lawn that exists because someone wanted one.
