Padmaraga Galle Fort GALLE

Padmaraga is a newly opened boutique hotel on Lighthouse Street inside Galle Fort, Sri Lanka's UNESCO-listed Dutch colonial fortified city. The property has seven rooms across four tiers - Deluxe Suites, Padmaraga Suites, the Gallery Suite, and the King's Hideout - alongside five distinct on-site pillars: Riku Kai Japanese restaurant, Isso seafood restaurant, the Vasco da Gama cocktail bar, the Facet gems and jewellery retail vault, and the Curado integrated art space. Breakfast is included in all rates and free private parking is available on site.

The three Deluxe Suites are elegant, light-filled rooms designed for the modern traveller and are the most accessible entry point on the property. The two Padmaraga Suites are more expansive, with interiors that take their pink-gold palette directly from the padmaraga gemstone that gives the hotel its name. The Gallery Suite is a single room dedicated to local artistry, with curated works from Curado's contemporary Sri Lankan artist partners displayed throughout. The King's Hideout is the most private and prestigious room, designed for guests who want full seclusion. All seven rooms are air-conditioned with ensuite bathrooms, in-room safes, desks, premium toiletries, and free Wi-Fi.

Five distinct experiences operate under the Padmaraga roof. Riku Kai is a Japanese restaurant focused on land and sea culinary precision, covering sushi, raw fish preparations, and Japanese-influenced dishes that a guest review describes as having exceptional flavours and presentation. Isso celebrates Sri Lanka's finest seafood in the property's social dining space. Vasco da Gama is a signature cocktail bar that maps the historical spice routes in its drinks programme. Facet is a geometrical retail vault with exhibition-grade gems and jewellery. Curado is an integrated art space where contemporary Sri Lankan masters exhibit alongside the heritage of the Fort. Afternoon tea is also available with a tiered stand and a champagne upgrade.

Cancellations made 30 or more days before arrival carry no charge. Cancellations made within 30 days of arrival are charged at 100% of the booking total. All cancellations must be submitted in writing to Ceylon Haven. A minimum stay of two nights applies during Peak Season from 20 December to 10 January.

Yes. Padmaraga offers free private parking on site, which is a meaningful practical advantage for guests arriving by car. Street parking inside Galle Fort is limited and is one of the most common logistical concerns for visitors. Guests arriving by train can use Galle Railway Station, approximately 2 kilometres from the hotel, with tuk-tuks readily available from the station.

Galle Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Sri Lanka's southern coast, a walled colonial city built by the Portuguese in 1588 and extended by the Dutch in the 17th century. Within the walls, a working town of heritage buildings, independent boutiques, galleries, cafes, and some of the best restaurants on the south coast coexists with residents, churches, a lighthouse, a cricket ground, and a street layout unchanged since the Dutch occupation. The Fort is compact enough to walk entirely in a morning and interesting enough to reward several days of return visits. Padmaraga's position on Lighthouse Street puts it in the quieter residential southern section of the Fort, within five minutes on foot of the lighthouse, the ramparts, and the beach.
