Is the beach private?
The beach directly in front of the villa is on a stretch of Habaraduwa coastline that sees very little passing traffic. It is not a gated private beach in the formal sense, but in practice it functions as one: guests consistently describe it as quiet, uncrowded, and one of the most peaceful beaches they encountered in Sri Lanka. The garden boundary leads directly onto the sand, and the pool sits between the pavilion and the shore so the sea is always visible.
Is an in-house chef included?
Yes. A chef specialising in Sri Lankan cuisine is included in the stay and prepares breakfast, lunch, and dinner to order. Menus are adapted to dietary requirements and personal preferences. Multiple guests single out the food, and specifically the chef's Sri Lankan cooking, as one of the highlights of their stay. The kitchen is also fully equipped if guests prefer to cook independently.
How far is Galle Fort from the villa?
Galle Fort is approximately 15 kilometres from Villa Nilaya Habaraduwa, around 20 minutes by car or 25 minutes by tuk-tuk from the villa gate. The Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with Dutch colonial ramparts, independent boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and a working lighthouse. It is well suited to a half-day visit combined with lunch, leaving the afternoon for the pool and the beach.
What is the capacity and bedroom configuration?
The villa has two ensuite bedrooms, both with air conditioning and four-poster canopy beds dressed in teal and floral linen. It sleeps up to six guests, with an additional guest bathroom available for larger groups. One bedroom can be configured for children on request. The villa is well suited to couples, small families, and groups of friends travelling together.
What else is there to do in Habaraduwa and the surrounding area?
Koggala Lake is 3 kilometres east and offers boat trips to a small island monastery, birdwatching, and a visit to the Martin Wickramasinghe Folk Museum on its banks. Galle Fort is 15 kilometres west. Unawatuna Beach and Jungle Beach are both within 15 kilometres. Hikkaduwa's coral reef is 22 kilometres north. Whale watching at Mirissa is around 50 minutes by road between November and April. Yala National Park is a longer day trip at approximately two and a half hours each way.
